The Trump administration plans to formally end a short-lived initiative championed by former adviser Elon Musk that requires federal employees to email supervisors a weekly list of their top five workplace accomplishments, according to two people familiar with the decision. The Office of Personnel Management is expected to notify human-resources officials across government on Tuesday that the so-called “five things” email will be discontinued. Introduced by Musk in February during his tenure leading the Department of Government Efficiency, the policy drew pushback from agency chiefs and confusion among rank-and-file staff; many agencies have already stopped complying. OPM Director Scott Kupor signaled the reversal last month, calling the manual processing of the messages "not efficient." The move widens the distance between the White House and Musk, who left government in May after a public rift with President Donald Trump over fiscal policy.
