BANK OF AMERICA TODAY RAISED ITS YEAR END TARGET FOR THE S&P 500 6,300 UP FROM 5,600
Goldman Sachs raised its near-term forecasts for the S&P 500, projecting the benchmark index will reach 6,400 in three months, 6,600 by year-end and 6,900 within 12 months—gains of roughly 3%, 6% and 11%, respectively, from current levels. Strategists led by David Kostin said the move reflects expectations of earlier and deeper Federal Reserve rate cuts, lower Treasury yields and sustained strength among mega-cap stocks. The team kept its earnings-per-share growth outlook at 7% for both 2025 and 2026 and lifted its assumed forward price-to-earnings multiple to 22 times from 20.4. Bank of America Global Research echoed the more bullish tone, raising its 2025 year-end S&P 500 target to 6,300 from 5,600 and introducing a 12-month goal of 6,600, arguing that it is “dangerous to underestimate Corporate America.” The twin upgrades follow the index’s recent record highs, underscoring investor confidence after an April pullback tied to the U.S. administration’s 145% tariff on Chinese goods.
