The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources confirmed that the offshore oil-drilling barge "Adam Marine 12," owned by the Offshore Shukheir Oil Company (Osoco), capsized and sank in the Gulf of Suez near the Red Sea on July 1, 2025. The ministry received the initial report from Osoco and immediately activated an emergency response plan. The incident resulted in the deaths of at least four crew members, with three to four others reported missing and multiple injuries among the crew. The ministry's minister personally visited the site of the accident to oversee response efforts. The Gulf of Suez is a key area for Egypt's oil and gas production, and the accident has prompted the ministry to take necessary measures regarding the overturned vessel.
