The ferry KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya sank in the Bali Strait, Indonesia, on the evening of July 2, 2025, shortly after departing from Ketapang port in East Java. The vessel was carrying 65 people, including 53 passengers and 12 crew members. Rescue operations have recovered 30 survivors and 10 bodies so far, with six fatalities initially reported and the death toll rising to seven and later to 10 as more victims were found. Thirty people remain missing. Search and rescue teams, including the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) and Basarnas, have been conducting extensive search efforts using ships, helicopters, divers, and advanced underwater detection equipment such as side scan sonar and remotely operated vehicles (ROV). The search area has been expanded, and the wreckage of the ferry was identified underwater, having shifted approximately one kilometer from the initial accident site. The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) has begun investigating the cause of the sinking. Rescue efforts have been hampered by strong currents and rain in the Bali Strait. Authorities have announced that the joint SAR operation will continue for at least three more days as they persist in searching for the missing passengers. The victims include Eko Sastrio, a 51-year-old driver, and his son Eka Toniansah, a truck assistant, who were among those on board transporting cement to Bali.
