Egyptian Foreign Ministry: What has been circulated about Israeli consultations with countries to displace Palestinians in the Gaza Strip is part of a rejected Israeli policy to empty Palestinian land.
Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is deeply concerned by reports that Israel has held talks with unnamed countries about relocating Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry described the scheme as part of a broader Israeli policy to "empty Palestinian land," which Cairo rejects outright. The ministry added that Egypt has contacted the states purportedly approached by Israel and was told they have no intention of accepting such a plan. Cairo stressed it would neither accept nor participate in what it called an unjust and historically unprecedented displacement, warning that it would amount to the liquidation of the Palestinian cause. Egypt urged all nations “that love peace” to refuse involvement in any relocation effort and cautioned that participation could carry legal consequences under international law.
