A ministerial committee representing 23 Arab and Islamic nations, together with the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, issued a statement condemning Israel’s declared plan to assume full military control of the Gaza Strip. The group demanded an immediate and comprehensive halt to Israeli military operations, unrestricted entry of humanitarian assistance, and the rapid launch of a jointly backed reconstruction programme. It also rejected any attempt to displace Palestinians and said a just and lasting peace can only be achieved through a two-state solution. The diplomatic push was reinforced in Egypt, where President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi hosted Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. After the meeting, the Egyptian and Turkish foreign ministers described Israel’s campaign in Gaza as a “war of extermination”, called for urgent humanitarian corridors and said they would coordinate efforts to counter the occupation plan, including through an emergency session of the OIC requested by Ankara. Fidan noted that Turkey has already sent about 102,000 tons of aid to Gaza. Beyond the Gaza crisis, Cairo and Ankara said they aim to lift bilateral trade to roughly US$15 billion and pledged to cooperate on wider regional files, including a comprehensive political settlement in Syria, elections in Libya and a cease-fire in Lebanon, underscoring the broader strategic convergence between the two governments.
