Operators of Israel’s Leviathan natural gas field have signed a supply agreement worth roughly $35 billion with Egyptian purchasers. The contract covers the export of about 130 billion cubic meters of gas through 2040, making it one of the largest energy deals between the two countries and extending Leviathan’s role as a key regional source of fuel. NewMed Energy, the field’s largest shareholder, said exports to Egypt will climb 50 percent in the first half of 2026 once additional production and transport capacity come online. The company expects the pact to reinforce Egypt’s position as an Eastern Mediterranean gas hub while providing Israel with a long-term outlet for Leviathan output.
