US defense technology company Anduril Industries and German defense giant Rheinmetall have announced a strategic partnership to co-develop and produce advanced autonomous aerial drones and solid rocket motors for the European market. The collaboration will focus on European variants of Anduril's Fury autonomous air vehicle and Barracuda missile systems, aiming to enhance Europe's sovereign military capabilities. Rheinmetall plans to integrate these autonomous air vehicles into new military platforms. The partnership also explores domestic production of these systems in Europe. This move reflects Europe's efforts to leverage American technology to strengthen its defense capabilities amid ongoing rearmament initiatives. Separately, the US military has developed a new kamikaze drone named LUCAS, designed to surpass the Iranian Shahed-136 loitering munition. The LUCAS drone is estimated to cost between $30,000 and $40,000, whereas the Iranian Shahed-136 is valued at approximately $30,000 per unit. The LUCAS drone represents a growing emphasis on loitering munitions in future warfare strategies. Additionally, Airbus and Kratos Defense are collaborating to supply combat drones tailored to the German Air Force, with plans to have these drones combat-ready by 2029.
🇺🇸⚡The US has created a new kamikaze drone... surprisingly looks similar to the Iranian Shahed-136. The shahed/Geran-2 is $30k a piece, I bet this one goes for $500k. Hahaha, I guess that's why you spend a trillion on defense. https://t.co/x13mH2RwuI
