Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he is discussing a “mega-deal” with U.S. President Donald Trump under which Washington would buy combat-proven Ukrainian drones while Kyiv commits to purchasing a range of American weapons. The talks, disclosed in a New York Post interview published 17 July, are intended to strengthen both countries’ aerial capabilities. Zelenskyy called the prospective arrangement “a win-win,” arguing that Ukraine’s unmanned systems—capable of striking targets up to 800 miles inside Russia—would give U.S. forces valuable new technology. He added that Kyiv is prepared to share its drone expertise not only with the United States but also with European partners such as Denmark, Norway and Germany. Financial terms and delivery timelines have not been made public. The discussions come as Trump confirmed that additional Patriot missile batteries are already being shipped to Ukraine with costs covered by NATO allies and the European Union, and as his draft fiscal-2026 defense budget proposes higher spending on drones and long-range munitions.
