China Tells European Parliament to Halt Official Taiwan Contacts

China’s diplomatic mission to the European Union on 28 July sharply criticized several members of the European Parliament, saying their recent actions violated the One-China principle and constituted interference in China’s internal affairs. Beijing’s EU mission said it “firmly opposes any form of official exchanges” between the legislature and Taiwan’s authorities, and urged the Parliament to honour the EU’s stated commitment to the One-China policy. The delegation called on the body to “immediately correct its mistakes” and avoid steps that could undermine relations with China.
