China foreign ministry: The EU should relax restrictions on exports of high-tech products to China
China’s Foreign Ministry Urges EU To Loosen Export Controls On High-Tech Products, Calling Overcapacity Just A One-Sided View Of Supply And Demand And A Protectionist Move 🇨🇳
CHINA FOREIGN MINISTRY EU SHOULD RELAX RESTRICTIONS ON EXPORTS OF HIGH-TECH PRODUCTS TO CHINA || CALLED OVERCAPACITY ARGUMENT IS 'ONE-SIDED' UNDERSTANDING OF THE RELATION BETWEEN SUPPLY AND DEMAND AND A PROTECTIONIST MEASURE
China’s Foreign Ministry said on 25 July it is prepared to buy more “marketable, high-quality” goods from Europe, provided the European Union relaxes its export curbs on advanced technology products destined for the Chinese market. A ministry spokesperson described the EU’s concern over Chinese industrial overcapacity as a “one-sided” reading of supply-and-demand dynamics and labeled related trade measures as protectionist. The comments come as Brussels weighs further actions against what it says are state-backed excess production in sectors such as electric vehicles and renewable energy. Beijing’s offer to expand imports of European goods is its latest attempt to ease rising trade tensions. Earlier this month, the EU imposed provisional duties on some Chinese clean-tech products, and additional steps are under review. No timeline was given for potential EU action or for any expansion of Chinese purchases.
