IKEA has recalled about 54,000 ÄLLU garlic presses sold in the United States after reports indicated the stainless-steel blade can detach during use, posing laceration and potential ingestion hazards. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said no injuries have been confirmed but urged customers to stop using the utensil and contact the Swedish furniture chain for a full refund. Separately in France, the government recall portal Rappel Conso has warned shoppers to avoid and destroy more than 40 batches of soft cheeses—including camembert, coulommiers, brie and chèvre—because of possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The affected products were distributed nationwide through retailers such as Lidl, Système U, Carrefour, Netto and Leclerc between April and early August. Consumers who purchased the cheeses are eligible for reimbursement and are advised to monitor for flu-like symptoms that can signal listeriosis, particularly dangerous for pregnant women, older people and those with weakened immune systems.
