French authorities have issued a recall of more than 40 cheese products due to a suspected contamination with the Listeria bacterium. The affected cheeses include varieties such as camembert, coulommiers, chèvre, brie, and bûche de chèvre, sold at major retailers including Lidl, U, and Carrefour. The French government has reported a possible link between the contaminated cheeses and 21 cases of listeriosis, a serious infection caused by Listeria, which has resulted in two deaths. Consumers are advised not to consume the recalled products and to dispose of them safely. The recall alert was issued by the Rappel Conso website, which monitors product safety and consumer warnings.
