U.S. regulators issued a series of consumer-product alerts on 11 August, pulling cookies, ice cream and kitchen tools from shelves because of contamination and injury risks. The Food and Drug Administration said Give & Go Prepared Foods is recalling 10-count packs of Target’s Favorite Day Bakery Frosted Sugar Cookies after wood fragments were found in the product. The Class II recall covers 803 cases—sold under UPC 85239-41250 and lot No. 25195—in 20 states and Washington, D.C. No illnesses have been reported, but consumers are urged to discard the cookies or seek a refund from Target. Separately, more than 300 cartons of Friendly’s Vanilla Bean ice cream were withdrawn after being mistakenly filled with Cookies and Cream that contains undeclared soy and wheat, posing a potential hazard to people with allergies. The mislabeled pints carry undisclosed lot information; the company advises customers to return them for reimbursement. The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Ikea also announced a voluntary recall of about 54,000 Ikea 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic presses sold between March 2024 and May 2025. A manufacturing defect can cause small metal pieces to break off, creating laceration or ingestion hazards. Ikea has received 10 incident reports globally, including three injuries, but none in the United States. Owners should stop using the tool and return it to any Ikea store for a full refund.
