Marseille in Advanced Talks to Loan Real Madrid Midfielder Dani Ceballos
Olympique de Marseille has opened formal negotiations with Real Madrid to acquire midfielder Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan that would include an option—potentially an obligation—to buy, according to reports in Marca and other Spanish and French outlets dated 25 August. Sources close to the talks say discussions over personal terms with the 29-year-old Spaniard are already under way, while the two clubs are weighing a purchase clause estimated at about €10 million to €15 million. The structure could give Marseille the right, or the duty, to make the move permanent next summer. Ceballos has made only brief appearances under Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso this season and is looking for regular playing time. Marseille, guided by Roberto De Zerbi and preparing for Champions League football, views the former Real Betis player as a key addition to strengthen its midfield before the close of the transfer window.
