Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi said Real Madrid — not the player — decided to end his spell at the Spanish club, according to remarks captured during a DAZN recording on 9 July. Responding to former Madrid midfielder Claude Makélélé’s question “How could Real Madrid let a player like you go?”, Hakimi replied: “It wasn’t my decision, it was theirs.” PSG coach Luis Enrique, who was also part of the light-hearted exchange, quipped about Makélélé’s attempts to stop his team. Hakimi left Madrid in 2020 for Inter Milan in a deal valued at about €40 million before joining PSG the following year. The 25-year-old has since become a regular starter for the French champions.
