SOS Médecins in Lille temporarily suspended its activities following a violent assault and death threats against one of its practitioners. The incident occurred when two individuals forcibly entered the doctor's office during a consultation, demanded the family present to leave, and proceeded to physically attack the physician, who suffered multiple blows to the face. The president of SOS Médecins Lille described the doctor’s condition as having “encountered the image of death.” An investigation into the assault and threats was promptly opened. In response, the Lille branch of SOS Médecins went on strike but later ended the work stoppage. The two suspects involved in the attack were brought to immediate trial and subsequently sentenced to 12 months of imprisonment each.
