French television host and producer Thierry Ardisson, who died on 14 July at the age of 76 from liver cancer, was honoured on Thursday at a funeral service in Paris. The ceremony began at 16:30 at the Église Saint-Roch, known as the capital’s ‘parish of artists’. Access to the church was restricted to invited guests asked to wear Ardisson’s trademark black, with or without dark glasses. The order of service, planned in detail by the presenter himself, featured music and visual elements he had selected before his death. The inhumation was to follow in strict privacy. The congregation included First Lady Brigitte Macron, Ardisson’s wife and TF1 journalist Audrey Crespo-Mara, singer Florent Pagny and government spokesman Gabriel Attal, among other media and cultural figures. Tributes earlier in the week came from President Emmanuel Macron and industry colleagues, while a documentary on Ardisson’s life, produced by Crespo-Mara, aired on TF1 on Wednesday.
