French broadcaster Stéphane Bern is leaving private station Europe 1 after five years to join ICI, the network of 44 local stations operated by public group Radio France. The move was announced on 7 July in an ICI statement. Beginning 25 August, the 61-year-old presenter will deliver a new weekday segment, “Voyage dans le temps”, at 07:55. The short historical feature aims to relate lesser-known anecdotes “avec humour et esprit”, according to ICI. Bern told Le Parisien that preparing 40-minute daily programmes for Europe 1 had become exhausting. He said Europe 1 had not formally renewed his contract in April but that the separation was amicable, noting even owner Vincent Bolloré had called to wish him well.
