🚨🇩🇪🇮🇷 NEW: Germany has urged its citizens to leave Iran, warning of a possible retaliation after fresh sanctions were imposed yesterday [@ReutersIran]
Germany’s Foreign Ministry on 29 August advised all German nationals to leave Iran immediately and warned against any travel to the country, citing an elevated risk of retaliatory actions by Tehran. The alert follows Thursday’s decision by Germany, France and the United Kingdom to invoke the United Nations “snapback” mechanism, starting a 30-day process to reimpose international sanctions on Iran over alleged non-compliance with the 2015 nuclear agreement (JCPOA). Berlin said Iranian officials have “repeatedly threatened consequences,” adding that German citizens and interests could be targeted. The German Embassy in Tehran can currently offer only limited consular assistance, the ministry noted.
