Englishman Tommy Fleetwood captured both the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup on Sunday, sealing his long-sought first PGA Tour title at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. A closing two-under-par 68 left the 34-year-old at 18-under 262, three shots clear of Patrick Cantlay and Russell Henley. The victory ends a 164-start winless run on the U.S. circuit that had included 30 top-five finishes. Fleetwood earned a $10 million bonus from the season-ending FedEx Cup purse and became the first player in the FedEx era to claim his maiden PGA Tour win at the Tour Championship. He began the final round tied with Cantlay, but opened daylight when Cantlay bogeyed the first hole and double-bogeyed the second. Although his lead briefly shrank to one after the turn, back-to-back birdies at Nos. 12 and 13 restored a three-stroke cushion that held to the finish. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, bidding for consecutive FedEx Cup titles, started the day four behind but hit his opening drive out-of-bounds and later found water at the par-3 15th, settling for a share of fourth at 14-under alongside Corey Conners and Cameron Young. The event used a new winner-take-all format with all 30 players starting at level par, replacing the staggered-strokes system of recent years. Reflecting on years of near misses, Fleetwood said, “I’ll be proud of the strength I had to keep coming back. This is just one win—hopefully the first of many.”
