Greek authorities have arrested four Chinese nationals after they were caught taking photographs of sensitive military installations near Tanagra Air Base, north of Athens. According to security officials, the group—two men, a woman and a younger man—was first spotted by guards from the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (EAB) while photographing Rafale F3R fighter jets and other facilities adjoining the base. After ignoring requests to leave and moving to a nearby bridge to continue shooting images of the 114th Combat Wing, the individuals were detained by the Greek Air Force’s military police and subsequently handed over to the local police station in Tanagra. Investigators say the suspects had amassed a substantial cache of photographs, which is now being examined to determine whether the incident was an isolated act or part of a broader intelligence-gathering effort. The arrests, which took place on Wednesday, come amid heightened vigilance over potential espionage activities around Greek defense sites. Authorities have not yet filed formal charges, but the case is being handled as a matter of national security, officials said.
