The Boston Bruins used the seventh overall selection in the 2025 NHL Draft to take Boston College center James Hagens, a playmaker viewed by analysts as filling the club’s long-standing need for skill down the middle. Actor Adam Sandler, appearing in his ‘Happy Gilmore’ persona, stepped to the draft podium to announce the pick, adding a dose of celebrity flair to the first round televised by ESPN and Sportsnet. Hagens’ busy summer will continue later this month after USA Hockey named him to a 42-man roster for the World Junior Summer Showcase, an evaluation camp running July 25–Aug. 2 in Minneapolis that also features teams from Canada, Finland and Sweden. Two of the top-10 selections from this year’s draft—Hagens and Chicago Blackhawks prospect Anton Frondell—are slated to attend as the United States begins preparations for the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Adam Sandler was able to do something no one else could: bring the Tours together. @WillZalatoris joins the show to talk all things Happy Gilmore 2 in a brand new episode of Vanity Index presented by @JLabAudio. Live now:(https://t.co/hITBUfZwHI) https://t.co/38Q9n442aG
