The Los Angeles Angels opened the 2025 Major League Baseball draft by selecting right-hander Tyler Bremner with the No. 2 overall pick. The 6-foot-4 pitcher from the University of California, Santa Barbara becomes the highest draft choice in Gauchos history and will join an Angels organization that has prioritized collegiate arms in recent years. The first round continued with high-school shortstop JoJo Parker going eighth to the Toronto Blue Jays, while the Oakland Athletics chose Florida State left-hander Jamie Arnold at No. 11. Arnold is the highest-drafted Seminoles player since 2008 and the program’s first pitcher taken in the opening round since 2014. At No. 12 the Texas Rangers selected California prep third-baseman Gavin Fien. The San Francisco Giants followed by taking Tennessee second-baseman Gavin Kilen with the 13th pick, giving the Volunteers two first-rounders for the third time in the past four drafts. High-school shortstop Daniel Pierce went 14th to the Tampa Bay Rays, and the Arizona Diamondbacks rounded out the reported picks by choosing Texas prep shortstop Kayson Cunningham at No. 18.
