The NHL’s Utah Mammoth have re-signed restricted free-agent forward Jack McBain to a five-year contract worth $21.25 million, carrying a $4.25 million annual cap hit through the 2029-30 season. The agreement, announced Monday, allowed the club and the 25-year-old to bypass a looming salary-arbitration hearing. McBain set career highs with 27 points while playing in all 82 games during the franchise’s inaugural season in Salt Lake City and ranks third league-wide with 832 hits since his debut in 2022. General manager Bill Armstrong said the 6-foot-4 center’s "gritty toughness" and versatility are central to the Mammoth’s plan to build a championship contender.
