The Philadelphia Flyers have signed restricted free-agent defenseman Cam York to a five-year, $25.75 million contract extension, the club said Monday. The agreement carries an average annual value of $5.15 million and runs through the 2029-30 season. York, 24, produced four goals and 17 points in 66 games last season while logging 20:47 of ice time, second-most on the team. The 2019 first-round pick set career highs in 2023-24 with 10 goals and 30 points and has 77 points in 235 NHL appearances. General Manager Danny Briere called securing York the final piece of the club’s summer business, which has included hiring Rick Tocchet as head coach and adding depth at goaltender, center and defense through free agency. With the NHL salary cap forecast to climb to $113.5 million by 2027-28, the Flyers believe the sub-$6 million cap hit could prove team-friendly as they attempt to end a playoff drought that dates to 2020.
