Bengaluru Police have arrested 26-year-old Gurudeep Singh for allegedly operating an Instagram account that secretly filmed women in public areas and posted the footage online without their consent. The account, which amassed about 10,000 followers, featured videos shot on Church Street, Koramangala and other busy parts of the city. The investigation began after a woman discovered a video of herself on the page and publicly appealed for help when her requests to have it removed were ignored. Her post went viral, prompting a cyber-crime inquiry that led officers to trace and detain Singh on 10 July. Police said Singh faces charges under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act relating to harassment and voyeurism. The case has rekindled debate over digital privacy and street harassment in India, with activists calling for stronger enforcement of online safety rules.
