Ghaziabad police have registered an FIR against Royal Challengers Bengaluru fast-bowler Yash Dayal under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which criminalises sexual intercourse obtained through deceit such as a false promise of marriage. The case was filed at Indirapuram police station on 6 July after a preliminary inquiry into a complaint lodged on 21 June through Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s grievance portal. In her statement, the complainant, a resident of Indirapuram, alleged that Dayal emotionally, physically and financially exploited her during a five-year relationship by assuring marriage, introducing her to his family and later becoming violent when confronted. She has supplied chat logs, screenshots, video call recordings and photographs that investigators are now verifying. Police plan to record her testimony before a magistrate and conduct a medical examination; Dayal has already given a statement, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Patil Nimish Dasharath. Section 69 is a non-bailable offence carrying a maximum prison term of 10 years. Neither Dayal nor his Indian Premier League franchise has commented on the allegations. The 27-year-old left-arm seamer was part of RCB’s maiden IPL title run earlier this year and plays domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh.
