Tamil Nadu police have launched a manhunt for a man captured on closed-circuit television abducting a 10-year-old girl in the state’s Thiruvallur district, on the outskirts of Chennai. Footage from Monday shows the suspect following the child, lifting her and covering her mouth before leaving the area. The girl was found later and is being treated at Chennai’s Stanley Medical College Hospital. More than 72 hours after the assault, no arrest has been made, prompting criticism from opposition politicians who say the delay underscores broader concerns about public safety in the state. Investigators have circulated the video and still images of the suspect and appealed for information from the public. Police officials said multiple teams are working to establish the man’s identity and urged residents to report any leads.
