Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested two men after a brief gunfight in the Shahbad Dairy area of northwest Delhi late on 3–4 July. The suspects, identified as Vijay and Somveer, were each shot in the legs when they allegedly opened fire while attempting to escape, according to police statements. Investigators say the pair had been wanted for the murder of Deepak, the nephew of jailed gangster Manjeet Mahal. The killing, thought to involve the rival Nandu gang, made headlines earlier this year and prompted a city-wide search for those believed responsible. Both men were taken to hospital for treatment and remain in police custody. The Crime Branch has opened further inquiries into possible accomplices and the broader gang rivalry connected to Deepak’s death.
