India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recently-concluded tour of Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, Brazil and Namibia had bolstered India’s diplomatic standing and advanced its agenda on counter-terrorism. Party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi told reporters in New Delhi that the five-nation swing produced “three main takeaways,” the most important being what he called global acceptance of India’s position on terrorism at multilateral forums, including the BRICS summit held during the trip. Trivedi did not detail specific agreements but described the visit as a demonstration of India’s growing influence across Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. He said the government would release further information on economic and strategic outcomes once official documents are finalised.
