Terrorism is the enemy of humanity. This very Red House has itself witnessed the wounds of terror and the loss of innocent blood. We must stand united to deny terrorism any shelter or space. We thank the people and the government of this country for standing with us in our fight https://t.co/aW4RKysWnp
Prime Minister Narendra Modi told a joint sitting of Trinidad and Tobago’s Parliament on 4 July that terrorism is “the enemy of humanity” and urged the international community to unite in denying extremists any sanctuary or support. Speaking in the historic Red House, which was itself attacked in 1990, Modi thanked the Caribbean nation for standing with India in its fight against terrorism. The Indian leader announced that Trinidad and Tobago will be treated as a priority partner for New Delhi, highlighting deepening ties rooted in a large Indian diaspora. He also used the address to press for long-awaited reforms of the United Nations, arguing that existing institutions are struggling to deliver peace and development amid rising challenges and a more assertive Global South.
