The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez’s petition seeking to quash the first information report, the Enforcement Directorate’s supplementary chargesheet and all related proceedings in the ₹200-crore money-laundering investigation linked to alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. Justice Anish Dayal ruled that the plea was not maintainable because a special court under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act has already taken cognisance of the prosecution complaint and found prima facie grounds for trial. Fernandez argued she was a victim targeted by Chandrasekhar, but the court declined to interfere at the pre-trial stage. The decision allows the criminal proceedings before the Delhi court to continue. The ED alleges Chandrasekhar siphoned ₹200 crore from the spouses of former Ranbaxy promoters Shivinder and Malvinder Singh, routed the funds through shell companies and spent part of the proceeds on expensive gifts for Fernandez. Chandrasekhar and his wife Leena Paulose remain in custody facing multiple cases nationwide.
