Delhi authorities mounted a large security response on Wednesday after five private schools, including St. Thomas School in Dwarka and Vasant Valley School in Vasant Kunj, received bomb threats by email shortly after 5 a.m. All campuses were evacuated and searched by Delhi Police, bomb-disposal and dog squads, and fire-service teams. No explosive devices were discovered, the Delhi Fire Department said. The latest scare followed a similar alert 24 hours earlier, when St. Thomas School and Delhi University’s St. Stephen’s College received near-identical emails claiming bombs had been planted, triggering building-wide sweeps that also proved negative. Authorities said at least ten schools and one college have been targeted since Monday, with 11 threat emails reported in the three-day span. Police have opened a case under the Explosive Substances Act and cyber-crime statutes. District cyber units are tracing the origin of the messages, which investigators believe were sent through anonymised email services. "Nothing suspicious has been found so far, but we are treating every threat as credible until ruled out," a Delhi Fire Department official said. Delhi schools experienced a similar wave of hoax bomb emails in May 2024 that disrupted more than 200 campuses. Officials said security protocols introduced after last year’s incidents helped ensure rapid evacuations this week, but parents’ groups have pressed for permanent monitoring systems and stricter penalties for false threats.
