India's monsoon season arrived nine days earlier than usual in 2025, covering the entire country ahead of the expected schedule, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This early onset is the fastest coverage since 2020 and has accelerated agricultural activities such as crop sowing. The monsoon reached Delhi by late June, bringing cloudy skies and light rains, with a yellow alert issued for the capital. Heavy rains have caused waterlogging and traffic disruptions in several parts of Rajasthan's Jodhpur city. The IMD has also issued warnings for heavy rainfall in multiple states, including Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh, where the monsoon's activity since June 20 has led to incidents of cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides, resulting in significant damage to life and property. Mumbai is also expected to experience heavy rainfall with associated waterlogging and traffic delays as per recent forecasts. Several other regions, including seven cities in Turkey, have received rainfall warnings from their meteorological departments.
https://t.co/l5npOgIb7A
