The Monsoon Session of the Indian Parliament is scheduled to run from July 21 to August 21, 2025, as announced by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. This session will be a week longer than initially planned, with the original end date proposed as August 12. The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, has approved the government's proposal for these dates. In observance of Independence Day celebrations, no parliamentary sittings will be held on August 13 and 14. Ahead of the session, the central government convened all-party meetings on July 19 and 20 to seek cooperation from political parties for the smooth functioning of both Houses of Parliament. The session is expected to feature the introduction and passage of 15 bills, including eight new bills such as the Anti-Doping Amendment Bill and legislation on sports governance reform. The agenda is anticipated to provoke intense debates between the government and opposition, with issues like the Pahalgam terror attack and remarks related to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Operation Sindoor expected to be raised. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with President Droupadi Murmu ahead of the session, and he arrived at Parliament on July 21 to commence the session.
