Kannada television actress Manjula C, popularly known as Shruti, was stabbed multiple times by her husband, Amaresh, at her Bengaluru home on 4 July, according to police statements cited by local media. Investigators said the 49-year-old husband confronted the 38-year-old actor over marital discord, pepper-sprayed her and inflicted knife wounds to her chest, thighs and neck before neighbours intervened. Manjula was taken to Victoria Hospital and has since been discharged after treatment. Police arrested Amaresh at the scene and booked him for attempted murder. Officers said the couple, married for 20 years with two daughters, had been living apart since April, when the actress filed a complaint alleging harassment. Talks to reconcile preceded the assault by three days, officials added.
