Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth across central government departments, addressing the recipients by video conference at 11:00 a.m. IST. The exercise formed the 16th edition of the nationwide Rozgar Mela, held simultaneously at 47 locations to streamline large-scale hiring for public-sector vacancies. The recruits will join ministries and agencies including Railways, Home Affairs, Posts, Health and Family Welfare, Financial Services, and Labour and Employment. Modi said the campaign—which pledges merit-based, corruption-free hiring—has so far provided permanent government jobs to more than one million people since its launch, and will continue as part of the administration’s youth-employment agenda.
