Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Jammu on August 24, 2025, to assess the situation following a cloudburst incident in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. He met with the injured at the Government Hospital in Jammu, accompanied by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Union Minister Jitendra Singh. Due to adverse weather and landslides, Singh was unable to visit the affected site directly. During his visit, Singh held a meeting at Raj Bhavan to review the flood situation in the region. BJP leader Shagun Parihar reported that Singh assured the installation of network facilities in remote areas of Kishtwar. Separately, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the maiden flight tests of the Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) on August 23, 2025, off the coast of Odisha. The IADWS is an indigenous multi-layered air defense system featuring Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missiles. Additionally, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), in collaboration with the Indian Air Force, DRDO, Indian Navy, and Indian Coast Guard, successfully completed the first Integrated Air Drop Test (IADT-01) for the Gaganyaan missions. The Indian Navy recovered the Gaganyaan capsule off Sriharikota and transported it to Chennai port for handover to ISRO. In Delhi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended a felicitation ceremony honoring the four elite Indian Air Force test pilots—Group Captains Shubhanshu Shukla, P V Nair, Ajit Krishnan, and Angad Pratap—who have been officially named as crew members for India's maiden human spaceflight mission, Gaganyaan. Singh praised the pilots' temperament during training and expressed pride in their achievements. Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla also met President Droupadi Murmu in Delhi ahead of the mission.
