A jeweller was fatally shot and an employee wounded during an attempted armed robbery at a jewellery showroom in the Sachin area of Surat, Gujarat, on Tuesday evening. Assistant Commissioner of Police N.P. Gohil said four men entered the store at around 8:40 p.m. and opened fire when staff resisted. Bystanders overpowered one of the assailants, who has since been taken into custody, while the other three fled. Police have formed teams to trace the absconding suspects and are reviewing CCTV footage from the store and surrounding streets. The arrested man is being questioned about the group’s movements and possible getaway route.
