Patna Police Link Gopal Khemka Murder to Beur Jail; Shooter Umesh Yadav Arrested, SIT Formed, SHO Suspended

The investigation into the murder of Gopal Khemka in Patna, Bihar, has intensified with the Patna police linking the case to Beur Jail following a raid that recovered multiple mobile phones. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to pursue the case amid rising crime concerns and political criticism. Authorities have arrested the shooter, Umesh Yadav, and gathered evidence implicating Ashok Sahu, who allegedly contracted the killing. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary affirmed that no criminal will be spared and that all accomplices will face imprisonment. The Patna police have also suspended Gandhi Maidan SHO Rajesh Kumar for negligence and repeated failure in maintaining law and order, including lapses related to the Khemka murder case. Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma highlighted the SHO's inadequate performance in crime control and adapting to recent situations. The case remains under active inquiry with law enforcement agencies pursuing all leads.
