The United States passport has fallen to the 10th position on the Henley Passport Index in 2025, continuing a decade-long decline in its global ranking. The Henley Passport Index ranks passports based on the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. This decline reflects a broader reshuffling of passport power worldwide, with France losing its position as the most powerful passport and Canada surpassing the U.S. Additionally, Chile has improved its ranking, moving up to 14th place, while India has made a notable leap to 77th place with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 59 destinations, its highest mobility score to date.
