The University Grants Commission (UGC) has established a four-member fact-finding committee to investigate the suicide of a female student at Fakir Mohan Autonomous College in Balasore, Odisha. The student had attempted self-immolation after her complaints of sexual harassment were reportedly ignored, and she subsequently died. The committee, led by UGC member Raj Kumar Mittal, who is also a professor at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in New Delhi, will examine the harassment allegations and recommend measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
