India’s Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was forced to abandon a planned visit to the Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple in Kerala on Monday after his helicopter encountered bad weather and returned to Kochi airport, according to the state government’s public-relations office. The trip to the prominent pilgrimage site had been scheduled as part of a two-day tour of the state. Despite the disruption, Dhankhar proceeded with his itinerary in Kochi, travelling by road to the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, where he addressed and fielded questions from students and faculty members. During the interaction, the Vice President remarked that India had recently experienced “turbulent times in the judiciary” but said the institutions had emerged stronger. Temple authorities had earlier restricted public entry and local traffic in anticipation of the Vice President’s arrival. Officials said the visit would be rescheduled once suitable weather conditions allow. Dhankhar is due to return to New Delhi later in the day.
