On August 10, 2025, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto officially reinstated the long-vacant position of Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) by appointing Lieutenant General Tandyo Budi Revita during a military honor ceremony held at the Pusdiklatpassus TNI AD in Batujajar, Bandung Barat, West Java. This marked the first time in nearly 25 years the role was filled, with the last occupant being General (Ret.) Fachrul Razi. Alongside this appointment, Prabowo also inaugurated six new regional military commands (Kodam) and three special forces leaders as part of a major restructuring effort aimed at strengthening Indonesia's defense capabilities. The formation of over 20 regional commands represents the largest overhaul of the armed forces in decades, coinciding with a notable increase in defense spending under Prabowo's administration. The President emphasized the necessity of a strong military to safeguard Indonesia's sovereignty and wealth amid global uncertainties. Lieutenant General Tandyo Budi Revita, the son of a teacher, was entrusted to assist Commander General Agus Subiyanto in leading the TNI. The military ceremony was attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and other government officials. Concurrently, the Indonesian government is addressing the death of Prajurit Dua (Prada) Lucky Chepril Saputra Namo, a 23-year-old soldier who died under suspicious circumstances in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). The case, suspected to involve abuse by senior personnel during a troop training activity, has led to the detention and indictment of 20 TNI members, including four soldiers named as suspects by the Military Police of Kodam IX/Udayana. Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana, Head of the Army Information Service, confirmed the involvement of an officer and stated the incident will prompt a comprehensive evaluation of operational units within the Army. Legal experts note that if proven guilty, the accused could face multiple charges under the Indonesian Criminal Code, including premeditated murder. The victim's mother, Sepriana Paulina Mirpey, has publicly demanded a thorough and impartial investigation. In diplomatic developments, President Prabowo welcomed Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra to Jakarta, marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Peru. During her visit, the two nations signed a comprehensive free trade agreement finalized in 14 months, covering sectors such as defense, narcotics control, food security, energy, fisheries, and mining. Peru expressed interest in exporting products like blueberries and matcha to Indonesia. Prabowo awarded President Boluarte the highest Indonesian honor, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna. The visit was hailed as a historic milestone in bilateral relations, with both leaders reaffirming support for Palestinian independence and a two-state solution. The ASEAN Secretary-General also welcomed President Boluarte at the ASEAN Secretariat, underscoring Peru's commitment to strengthening ties with the region.
"Kalau dia mati di medan perang saya ihklas, tapi ini oleh oknum-oknum yang tak bertanggung jawab. Bapak tolong, saya mohon bapak," kata Sepriana. | #KasusKematianPradaLucky https://t.co/HHp3MAgeFC
