Ahead of Indonesia's 80th Independence Day on August 17, the appearance of flags featuring the anime "One Piece" alongside the national flag has sparked public discourse. Some citizens view the display as a symbol of perceived injustices. The Indonesian political landscape has also seen notable developments: Sugiono, previously Indonesia's Foreign Minister and known as an ideological protégé of Prabowo Subianto, has been appointed as the new Secretary General of the Gerindra Party, succeeding Ahmad Muzani. Muzani has transitioned to roles as Secretary of the Board of Trustees and Honorary Chairman within Gerindra. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) has reaffirmed Megawati Soekarnoputri as its chairperson, with Hasto Kristiyanto continuing as Secretary General following his release from detention after receiving amnesty from President Prabowo. The amnesty also extended to Tom Lembong, a former campaign team member of Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar, which has been characterized by PDI-P and Nasdem Party officials as a politically sensitive gesture by President Prabowo and the legislature. Gerindra's Deputy Chairman, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, emphasized that the red and white national flag remains the sole official symbol for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, cautioning that the display of the "One Piece" flag could threaten national unity. Hasto Kristiyanto, upon release, was welcomed by the Cakrabuana Task Force at his home.
