Carla Zambelli, a federal deputy from the Liberal Party of São Paulo (PL-SP), was arrested in Rome, Italy, on July 29, 2025, after being a fugitive for over a month. She was located at her residence following a tip-off and was detained by Italian authorities with the assistance of Brazilian Federal Police, who had been monitoring her since June. Zambelli was sentenced by Brazil's Supreme Federal Court to 10 years in prison for her involvement in a hacking invasion of the system. The arrest process lasted approximately four hours and was coordinated with a dossier prepared by Humberto Ramos, the Brazilian Federal Police attaché in Rome. Following her arrest, Italy announced plans to extradite Zambelli to Brazil to serve her sentence.
