China’s BYD Co. has delivered the first 25 of 70 K9UD electric buses ordered by the city of Florence, marking the company’s debut in the Tuscan capital’s public-transport fleet. Each 12-metre bus is equipped with a 422-kWh battery pack that provides a range of roughly 260 kilometres and will operate on Florence’s 6th, 20th and 23rd routes. The remaining 45 units are scheduled to arrive in 2026. The hand-over comes as BYD accelerates its European build-out. On 27 June the company began work on a 29,000-square-metre expansion of its Komarom, Hungary, plant. The $94 million project will triple the site’s output capacity to more than 1,000 electric buses and trucks a year—Reuters puts the figure at around 1,250—and is expected to create over 600 jobs. Until the Hungarian facility is fully ramped up, BYD is supplementing European deliveries with three China-based car carriers now en route to the region to meet rising demand.

BYD currently has 3 PCTCs (Changsha, Xian & Hefei) headed to Europe. Explosion in demand from large EU countries (5000+ orders in UK, 4000+ in Germany & 3000+ in Italy/Spain for June) Until Hungary factory ramps up production, BYD's fleet will be extremely busy! https://t.co/3KD5Ctrdv5
