The Gabra and Dasanaach communities of Marsabit County have signed a historic peace accord, ending nearly 160 years of recurring conflict, bloodshed, and deep-seated mistrust. The signing ceremony took place in Ileret Sub County, witnessed by Kenya's Principal Secretary for Interior, Dr. Raymond Omollo, and North Horr Member of Parliament Wario Guyo. Dr. Omollo described the accord as a "generational turning point" with the potential to reverse decades of stagnation and insecurity in the region. Both communities committed to breaking the cycle of violence, including cattle raids, and transforming the peace agreement into a lasting solution for the five generations affected by the conflict. The accord is seen as a landmark event in Marsabit County, signaling the start of a new era of unity and development.
