Kenya and the United Kingdom have renewed their strategic partnership with a new agreement covering the period 2025 to 2030. The pact, signed by President William Ruto and UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street, aims to boost bilateral trade and investment, targeting a doubling of trade volume within five years. Valued at approximately Ksh.427 billion, the partnership extends beyond trade to include cooperation in security, climate action, digital innovation, green growth, job creation, and the development of digital skills. This agreement succeeds the previous 2020–2025 framework and is expected to unlock major investments and foster growth in information and communication technology. UK Deputy High Commissioner Dr. Ed Barnett highlighted that the partnership encompasses multiple sectors, while UK officials emphasized the commitment to building a modern and respectful relationship to create jobs and promote growth for both nations.
